Daddy Lumba’s Children Call for Peace and Dignity Amid Court Dispute Over His Funeral

Daddy Lumba

The children of the late Ghanaian music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have appealed for calm and unity as legal wrangling clouds preparations for his final farewell.

In a statement signed by Charlyn Fosuh, daughter of Daddy Lumba and Akosua Serwaa, the children distanced themselves from any ongoing court case concerning their father’s funeral and burial arrangements.

“We, the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, wish to clarify that we are not parties to this legal process and that we do not wish to be involved in any disputes or conflicts surrounding the funeral arrangements,” the statement read.

“Our only desire is to honour our father’s memory in a dignified, respectful, and peaceful manner, befitting his remarkable life and contributions.”

The plea follows Madam Serwaa’s decision to take legal action to stop funeral plans over claims that they were made without her knowledge or consent. The dispute has drawn wide public attention.

Born in September 1964 in Nsuta, Ashanti Region, Daddy Lumba rose from humble beginnings to become a household name in Ghanaian music. Known for timeless hits such as Aben Wo Ha, Theresa Abebrese, and Tokrom, his voice and songwriting shaped generations and defined the sound of modern highlife. His artistry, charisma, and longevity in the industry made him both a cultural treasure and a symbol of perseverance.

Amid the brouhaha, the children’s statement appears aimed at easing public tension and redirecting focus toward their father’s legacy rather than family disputes.

“We stand together as his children from all sides of the family united in our love and respect for our father,” Charlyn Fosuh stated on behalf of her siblings. “At this difficult time, we wish to focus solely on celebrating his legacy and ensuring a fitting farewell.”

The statement further urged the media and social media users to show restraint and sensitivity in their commentary.

“We kindly ask the general public, especially the media and social media commentators, to be measured and respectful in their commentary regarding the family, any ongoing legal matters, and the funeral arrangements,” it continued. “We believe our father deserves a farewell that reflects the peace, dignity, and unity he valued in life.”
