Ghanaian gospel musician and pastor Sonnie Badu has added his voice to the series of admiration surrounding Shatta Wale’s record-breaking Shatta Fest 2025, calling it an extraordinary moment that will be remembered in Ghana’s cultural history.
Taking to social media, Badu expressed awe at the staggering turnout that packed Accra’s Black Star Square on Saturday, October 18, 2025, for the dancehall star’s 40th birthday concert. The event, dubbed “Shatta Fest 2025 x Shattabration: The King Calls,” saw tens of thousands of fans, many dressed in white, filling the historic square in a show of excitement and solidarity.
“It’s never happened in the history of Ghana, not even on the day of our independence with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This is huge @shattawalenima needs to be studied. We all go throw money for ground, feed the streets and they got your back. Paaa paaa paaa! I think Ghana is evolving and soon we will take the centre stage again,” Sonnie Badu wrote.
The free concert, staged as a heartfelt gift to fans, formed part of Shatta Wale’s 40th birthday festivities. It brought together some of Ghana’s biggest music stars, including Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Samini, Medikal, Wendy Shay, KiDi, and DopeNation.
