The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has arrested the soldier who was filmed assaulting two civilians inside a pharmacy at Burma Camp in Accra earlier this week.
In a statement released in Accra on Thursday, October 30, 2025, and signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director of the Department of Public Relations, GAF said the soldier, identified as Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Williams Mensah of the Ghana Air Force, was taken into custody by the Ghana Military Police.
According to the statement, the victims, who sustained injuries during the assault, have been treated and are cooperating with investigators. The statement added that WO1 Mensah is assisting military authorities with ongoing investigations into the matter.
The footage, which spread rapidly across social media, shows the uniformed officer physically attacking a pharmacy attendant and a female customer following an apparent disagreement inside the shop. CCTV recordings also captured the violent exchange.
GAF strongly condemned the conduct, emphasizing that such behavior violates its standards of discipline and professionalism.
“The Armed Forces assures the general public that it will not condone any acts of assault on civilians and will not shield any soldier engaged in such,” the statement said.
The military reiterated its commitment to accountability and maintaining high ethical standards among its personnel.
