“Once It Is Ordained by Allah, They Will Die” – Pusiga MP Ayamba Laadi on the GAF Recruitment Stampede Tragedy

Ayamba Ayii Laadi, Member of Parliament for Pusiga

Ayamba Ayii Laadi, Member of Parliament for Pusiga, has shockingly stated that the recent stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise was an event determined by Almighty Allah, stressing that the tragic deaths were unavoidable.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, while offering condolences to the families of the deceased and to the nation, Laadi reflected on the inevitability of death and the role of divine will in life.

“There is nothing that happens without happening at the right time. This is what Almighty Allah has ordained for them. Today is their day; no matter how, no matter what, no matter who was there—even if all the presidents in the world were present—once it is ordained by Allah that they will die today, they will. That is what has happened, and that is the will of Allah,” she said.

Her words left many colleagues visibly shocked, and a faint exclamation of “Ei!”, a sound of surprise, echoed through the chamber, underscoring the emotional weight of her statement.

She added that no one desired such a tragedy. “No boy wanted them dead,” she said, urging Ghanaians to find comfort in their faith.

In response to the incident, President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the Ghana Armed Forces to suspend the nationwide recruitment drive following reports of injuries and multiple deaths in Accra and Kumasi.

“I have asked the leadership of the Armed Forces to temporarily halt the recruitment exercise and conduct a full investigation. We must take a fresh approach to ensure such unfortunate incidents do not happen again,” the president stated.
