A storm is brewing within academic circles and across social media after a viral clip exposed a disturbing off-air confrontation between Dr. George Domfeh and Professor Ransford Gyampo, two senior lecturers at the University of Ghana.
The video, which spread quickly on November 15, 2025, shows the tense moments that followed a live discussion on TV3. What began as a routine political analysis ended in a harsh exchange that turned into personal insults and unverified claims.
Although the video lasts less than a minute, it captures an atmosphere of hostility that erupted immediately after the broadcast. The disagreement, recorded just outside the studio, has raised serious concerns about professionalism among senior faculty members.
According to those present, the dispute ignited when Dr. Domfeh confronted Professor Gyampo over his background and alleged political leanings. Professor Gyampo, who lectures in the Political Science Department and serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, responded sharply when Dr. Domfeh referenced his prior leadership role within the University Teachers Association of Ghana.
The verbal clash quickly intensified. Prof. Gyampo, visibly angered by the insinuations of bias, challenged Dr. Domfeh’s academic credibility. Moments later, circulating Facebook footage revealed the confrontation edging toward a physical fight, forcing production staff to intervene before matters escalated.
During the scuffle, Dr. Domfeh raised further accusations tied to Prof. Gyampo’s conduct with students, adding fuel to an already volatile situation.
The leak of the video has triggered widespread condemnation online. Many observers within academia and the public have expressed disappointment that two senior scholars, entrusted with upholding intellectual rigor and decorum, engaged in behaviour widely seen as unprofessional.
