President John Dramani Mahama has revealed his first encounter with his wife, Lordina Mahama.
According to him, their first meeting was during his days completing national service at Ghanasco. He shared the story while addressing the school’s 65th Anniversary celebration in Tamale on November 22, 2025.
President John Mahama described returning to Ghanasco as a young national service teacher, where Lordina was then a form four student.
“I know the girls like to hear this story, I came back to do national service and at the time, Lordina was in form four. I taught her during my national service year,” he said.
He recounted that after her time at Ghanasco, Lordina worked as a teacher at Bambum Primary School. Their paths crossed again when he later returned to the area.
“When I came back and I met her again, she had finished school and of course, I was also a very young, handsome man, the rest is history…In Ghana, we say your ear sweet you too much,” Mahama added with humour.
Apart from sharing memories, Mahama used the occasion to outline major upgrades planned for the school. He announced a new boys dormitory block, improvements to the science laboratory, and a 5,000-seater auditorium he described as one of the largest in the country.
