South African rapper Nasty C has stirred up conversation in Ghana’s music circles after revealing that Sarkodie does not currently feature in his top three Ghanaian rappers, though he still places the award-winning artist somewhere in his top five.
Speaking on Joy Prime on November 24, 2025, Nasty C explained that his ranking reflects how he feels at the moment. “He’s not in my top three at the moment. He is definitely in the top five,” he said.
The interview also revisited their 2022 tension, prompting a question about whether a collaboration was still possible. Nasty C said the idea is not off the table but would require an honest discussion. “I don’t know, we would have to have a conversation,” he replied.
He went on to explain why that conversation has not happened, pointing to busy schedules and the absence of anyone arranging a proper meeting. “I think a lot of things got lost in translation and, you know, I don’t know. No one’s organised that sit-down just yet, and we are both just busy with our lives,” he said.
According to Nasty C, he has already shown willingness to reconcile, noting that he even signaled it in his song “No Big Deal,” a track he released in 2022 that addressed the misunderstandings with both Sarkodie and A-Reece. He added that Sarkodie may have misread his intentions when the song came out. “I said that in the song that I put out, but I guess I don’t know if he misunderstood it or if someone was in his ear and told him the wrong message, but his response to the song that I put out was a little spicy.”
Nasty C said he remains open to clearing the air. “So I don’t know where his head is at the moment. I’m not really worried about it, but if he were to ask us to sit down and have a chat, yeah, for sure,” he added.
In “No Big Deal,” released in November 2022, Nasty C reflected on why a collaboration with Sarkodie had never happened. In the first verse he rapped, “When I first met Sarkodie, he wouldn’t shake my hand, cool. I’m not too proud to say but am still a fan.” The track also revealed that he turned down two opportunities to work with Sarkodie, saying, “Two requests over the years and I declined them both. I just make up some dumb excuse like: I’m in album mode. But looking back on that today, I was in coward mode.”
Sarkodie responded a month later with “Landlord,” rejecting claims that he ever sought a collaboration and suggesting that Nasty C was dealing with his own ego issues. “I ain’t gotta have to shake your hand so you can walk out. And so you know it’s not me, you fighting your own ego—maybe a couple of things you gotta sort out. I never reached out homie but I know what you doing, such a smart ass touching the God is part of the plan,” Sarkodie rapped.
