Nana Yeboah Reveals He Was Paid GH₵20 for His First Movie

Kumawood actor, Nana Yeboah

Kumawood actor Nana Yeboah has reflected on the early days of his acting career, revealing how a small act of faith turned a modest payment into the foundation of his success.

During a discussion on UTV’s cooking show, Yeboah looked back nearly 18 years to his first movie role, sharing the tiny sum he earned and how he transformed it into a spiritual investment.

“I shot my first movie 18 years ago. I was paid GH₵20, but I didn’t spend a penny from it. I took it to church, prayed on the money and used it to sow a seed in church,” he said.

The actor believes that simple gesture marked the start of greater opportunities in the industry.

“After that, by God’s grace, work started coming. I shot a couple of movies, which helped me gain recognition,” Yeboah stated.

Yet, just as his career seemed poised for international growth, the Kumawood industry began to slow down, presenting new challenges.

“When it got my turn to go global, the movie industry started fading off,” Nana Yeboah averred.
