Akosua Serwaa Fosuh has broken her silence for the first time since tensions broke out over the family and legal battles surrounding the death of Highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
Her remarks come amid mounting public interest in the dispute over who should be formally recognized as the musician’s widow.
In the months following Lumba’s demise on July 26, 2025, competing claims emerged, prompting Akosua Serwaa to petition the courts to affirm her as his sole legal spouse. The case, however, took a different turn on November 28, 2025, when the Kumasi High Court concluded that she and Odo Broni, known legally as Priscilla Ofori Atta, both qualify as legitimate spouses of the late artiste.
This judgment came after intense public arguments and legal exchanges over who should oversee widowhood rites, manage the musician’s estate and hold the rightful title of widow.
Explaining its decision, the court highlighted that Akosua Serwaa was unable to present the original paperwork to establish a civil marriage with Lumba. The documents submitted were extracts rather than an official, certified certificate.
After the ruling, her lawyer, William Kusi, announced that his client had directed him to file an appeal.
A video shared online captured Akosua Serwaa thanking those who have supported her throughout the ordeal. She stated that the encouragement has given her strength during a turbulent period.
She also opened up about her belief that she will ultimately prevail in court and reflected on the outpouring of kindness she has received, saying she had not realized how many people cared for her until the dispute surfaced.
