Kumawood actress Louisa Adinkra has revealed how her colleague Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin helped turn her struggling ice kenkey venture into a thriving business after a period of personal and professional setbacks.
Louisa recounted that her China importation business was hit by three robberies, including one in which her entire warehouse was emptied. The repeated losses left her deeply distressed and on the edge of despair.
Speaking with ZionFelix, she said Lilwin’s steadfast support during that challenging time became a lifeline. When she decided to launch her ice kenkey business, his guidance and encouragement gave her the confidence to rebuild.
Louisa explained that the idea to sell ice kenkey came from her brother, and she decided to explore it seriously. She began by bringing samples to Kwadwo’s film set, offering them for free to gauge interest. On her third visit, Lilwin bought all the samples and shared them with his crew. He later introduced her to a business partner, who placed an order for 1,500 pieces, providing the momentum her business needed.
She shared that after taking her brother’s advice, she first gave away samples on Kwadwo’s set. On the third attempt, Kwadwo told her to sell to everyone and then come back for the money. This generated initial sales, but her real breakthrough happened when a client, referred by Kwadwo, tried the ice kenkey and immediately ordered 1,500 pieces. That order marked the turning point that set her business on a path to success.
