Fella Makafui has launched legal proceedings after a disturbing comment about her five-year-old daughter, Island, appeared on social media.
The remark, posted by an account identified as “Ghatu” on X, was made under a video the actress shared featuring her child. The comment read: “the girl ein inside go sweet basaaaaa,” prompting widespread criticism online for its pedophilic undertones.
In a statement released on January 20, 2026, Makafui called the message “completely unacceptable,” saying it exposed her daughter to language no child should ever face.
“The incident has caused me immense emotional distress and sleepless nights. No parent should have to endure seeing their child spoken about in such a harmful and inappropriate manner,” she wrote.
Although the individual has apologised, Makafui emphasised that the severity of the comment cannot be erased by an apology alone. She confirmed that the matter has been formally reported and is being handled by her legal team.
The actress made clear that she will not respond to online debates over the issue, insisting that the conversation must remain focused on protecting her child’s dignity and well-being.
She explained that the comment crossed a line that no child should ever be subjected to, causing anxiety and emotional turmoil for her and her family. “Words directed at a child carry lasting weight,” she said.
Closing her statement, Makafui thanked those who reached out with concern and support, reiterating that her priority is safeguarding Island’s peace, innocence, and dignity.
