“Is It a Social Media Case?” – Blakk Rasta Reacts to Shatta Wale Lawsuit

Blakk Rasta and Shatta Wale

Blakk Rasta has pushed back publicly after dancehall artiste Shatta Wale announced a GH¢100 million defamation suit against him, questioning whether the legal threat goes beyond online noise.

The reggae musician and media figure addressed the issue on his YouTube show on January 26, 2026, saying he is yet to be officially served with any court documents, even though details of the lawsuit have been widely shared on social media by Shatta Wale and his team.

He noted that close to 10 days had passed since news of the suit began circulating, raising doubts about the seriousness of the action and suggesting it may have been crafted mainly for public attention.

“Shatta Wale said he was taking Blakk Rasta to court. The court documents were already circulating in the media, yet Blakk Rasta has received no writ of summons. About 10 days have gone by now, no summons. Or is this a social media court case? Is it just hype?” he said.

Blakk Rasta also took issue with what he described as an unnecessary delay, especially after Shatta Wale publicly boasted about having strong legal representation.

“He said he would use me as an example and that he has money to pay his lawyers. Shatta, you say you have money and good lawyers, let them serve me quickly. What are they waiting for?” he added.

Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah, was reported on January 19, 2026, to have initiated legal action against Blakk Rasta, accusing him of making false, misleading and scandalous claims that allegedly harmed his reputation.

According to the writ of summons, Shatta Wale argued that the video at the centre of the dispute gained massive traction shortly after it was published, pulling in more than 150,000 views on Facebook and over 27,000 views on YouTube within 24 hours, alongside thousands of reactions and comments.
