Award-winning gospel singer Diana Hamilton has opened up about the unexpected journey behind her latest song ‘Aha Ye’, which features veteran gospel icon Elder Mireku.
Speaking during an interview on TV3, the singer disclosed that the collaboration was never part of a structured plan but developed organically through worship and songwriting.
Hamilton explained that the inspiration for the song emerged while she spent time at Elder Mireku’s home, where both artistes were immersed in worship. She indicated that the creative process unfolded naturally, ultimately shaping the song into what fans now recognise.
“It happened from the onset. When I started writing it, I found myself in Elder Mireku’s house, and we were writing the song and just worshipping. Then the song came to my mind. I put it in and realised that even though it is an all-English song, there is something he is doing that is bringing the song alive,” she said.
She further revealed that South African gospel star Ntokozo’s involvement followed a similarly spontaneous path, noting that her name surfaced unexpectedly during a casual moment.
The Ghanaian gospel recounted that she reached out to Ntokozo immediately after the idea crossed her mind, and the response she received confirmed her conviction that the collaboration was meant to happen.
“But when I thought of Ntokozo, I remembered we were driving, and then she came to mind. That was when I knew it was her and how easily it all came together.
“When I called her, she said, ‘I don’t need to hear it, I’m on it, just tell me when.’ She didn’t ask to hear the song until a few days before she was about to fly down, and that was when she said, ‘When you’re done with the song, can I listen?’” Diana Hamilton further stated.
