Yaw Dabo Demands GH¢1m in Defamation Battle With Oboy Siki

Yaw Dabo and Oboy Siki

Yaw Dabo has taken a legal battle to the Kumasi High Court, demanding GH¢1 million in damages from fellow comic actor Oboy Siki over remarks he says crossed the line.

The popular actor and football administrator accuses his colleague of making statements that attacked both his private life and his role in football management. According to the writ before the court, the comments have injured his standing and exposed him to public ridicule.

Central to the dispute are claims that Oboy Siki allegedly mocked Dabo’s manhood, including assertions that he is unable to impregnate a woman. The suit also cites remarks portraying him as selfish and “not man enough” to marry. Beyond his personal life, Dabo is further alleging that his competence as a football administrator was questioned in ways he considers defamatory.

When the case was called on February 23, 2026, Dabo’s lawyer, Diana, briefed the court and later spoke to the media about developments.

She told the court that although the writ of summons had been duly served, the defendants did not respond within the required time.

“Defamation action is not imprisonment or a penalty. When we served them the writ of summons, they did not enter an appearance. They did not inform the court that they had been served, and they did not bring their defence,” she said.

Lawyer Diana explained that after reviewing the situation with her client, Dabo was determined to proceed, leading them to apply for the matter to move forward in the absence of a defence.

That course, however, shifted during the latest appearance in court. She said the application was withdrawn after lawyers for the defendant and GHPage proposed that the parties attempt to settle the matter outside the courtroom.

“Today, when we came to court, the application we filed for the matter to proceed had to be withdrawn. The defendant’s lawyer and GHPage’s lawyer suggested that we should resolve the matter calmly, so we withdrew the case from court. That is what the court has granted,” she explained.

For now, both sides are expected to explore possible terms of settlement before returning before the judge.

“We will return to court, but we are giving them some time. Whatever they come up with and whatever Yaw Dabo decides, that is what we will rely on in court the next time we appear,” she explained further.
