Abu Trica Remains in Custody, Next Court Date Set for March 18

Abu Trica

Frederick Kumi, widely known as Abu Trica, has been returned to police custody after a fresh arrest by the Narcotics Control Commission.

The Gbese District Court in Accra ordered his remand on Wednesday, February 25, following his appearance before the bench.

The court reportedly fixed March 18, 2026, for the next hearing as processes linked to his extradition to the United States continue to unfold.

His latest arrest follows an earlier decision by the same court to discharge him and his co-accused in a case stemming from an indictment by U.S. authorities. American prosecutors allege that the group was involved in an $8 million romance scam that targeted elderly victims.

The alleged operation, which drew international scrutiny, centers on claims that Abu Trica and others used online platforms to carry out fraudulent schemes.

Although the court did not outline the specific basis for the renewed arrest, Abu Trica is expected to remain in custody pending his next appearance.
