Yaw Dabo has discontinued his GH₵1 million defamation suit against Oboy Siki after both actors agreed to settle the matter out of court.
The decision follows mediation led by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, less than 48 hours after the pair made their first appearance at the High Court in Kumasi.
Dabo had taken legal action after accusing Oboy Siki, popularly known as Dada Santo, of making defamatory statements about him. But after a meeting facilitated by the minister, both actors confirmed in a video that they would no longer pursue the case in court.
Oboy Siki withdrew the statements and issued an unqualified apology, admitting that his remarks were made in an attempt to generate social media banter. He said he chose to retract them after realising Dabo did not appreciate the comments.
“I have already apologised to Dabo before Frank [Dr Amoakohene], but let me state it here that all I said was not true and was said out of anger,” Oboy Siki told the media.
After speaking to bloggers, he walked up to Dabo, shook his hand, and asked him publicly to confirm that he had forgiven him. Dabo affirmed that he had accepted the apology, noting that the issue had been resolved through the intervention of the regional minister and other prominent individuals who reached out to him.
The controversy began after Oboy Siki, during an interview with Ghpage, allegedly made disparaging remarks about Dabo’s involvement in football management and his private life, including claims that he was struggling with infertility. He also alleged that Dabo had insulted President John Dramani Mahama.
Feeling his reputation had been harmed, Dabo filed a defamation suit seeking GH₵1 million in damages.
On February 23, 2026, both actors appeared before the High Court in Kumasi for the first hearing. Videos circulated online showing them at the court premises with some Kumawood colleagues, including Sumsum Ahuofe.
The court later adjourned the case to allow room for an out-of-court settlement, which has now been finalised.
