Ghanaian musician Mzbel is speaking out after the return of the National Democratic Congress to power, saying her expectations following months of campaigning have not been met.
In a TikTok video, the singer shared her disappointment, explaining that her support for the party was driven by the hope of landing performance opportunities rather than political appointments. According to her, that expectation has yet to materialise.
“I am crying because my government is in power, yet they have not given me any work. I’m not even referring to appointments or office roles because I don’t have time for that. I am a musician, and this government has hosted numerous entertainment events.
“How many of them have you seen me perform at? All I expected was that after actively campaigning, they would give me shows to perform,” she said.
Apart from the issue of missed opportunities, the Ghanaian singer also addressed circulating claims about alleged rewards from the party. She dismissed suggestions that she had been gifted a house or car following the NDC’s victory, insisting her assets are self-funded.
“No party has bought me a house or a car. The house I live in was built by me, and I bought my own car. I don’t understand why people think I cannot afford these things.
“I am a musician, and although I am not materialistic, everything I need in life, I have worked for. The party hasn’t even given me gigs where I can render my services and get paid, so how would they buy me a house or a car?” Mzbel further stated.

@goddess_mzbel It hurts to hear people say I’ve been “sorted” and forgotten them. The truth is… I stood strong, I gave my all, I mobilized people out of pure belief, not because I was promised anything. And till now, nothing has been done for me or my team I have not turned my back on anyone. Im simply minding my own business
