Ghanaian actress and businesswoman Fella Makafui is looking back at the moment that quietly altered the course of her career, revealing she nearly walked away from the role that introduced her to a national audience.
In a reflective post on social media, she shared old photos from her early days on set and opened up about landing the character Serwaa in YOLO, a part that would later define her rise in the industry.
“11 years ago, I almost rejected a role that would later become part of my identity, Serwaa,” she wrote.
At the time, she explained, the weight of the opportunity was not immediately clear. What felt uncertain then would go on to shape both her personal journey and professional path.
Her message traced the evolution that followed, pointing to years marked by persistence, setbacks, and steady growth. She described a version of herself that chose to push forward, even when the future felt unclear.
“Looking back, I see growth. I see resilience. I see a woman who refused to give up even when things were uncertain,” she added.
Fella Makafui also paid tribute to the effort behind her progress, noting that each experience, whether difficult or rewarding, contributed to where she stands today.
Now, she says, her focus is firmly on what lies ahead. With gratitude for how far she has come, she expressed excitement about the next chapter while encouraging young people to stay ambitious and refuse to be defined by their circumstances.
