Speaking in a recent interview, the singer shared her appreciation for a label that keeps surfacing in conversations about her career. Many listeners, she revealed, now liken her to Shatta Wale, a comparison she does not take lightly.

“It’s like an award for me when people refer to me as the female version of Shatta Wale. It’s a great achievement because Shatta Wale is one of the greatest of all time,” she said.

Wendy Shay sees the connection as going beyond public opinion, crediting the dancehall star as a major source of motivation and noting that his influence has helped shape her journey.

“If someone thinks I am the female version of him, then it means we share similar traits. Shatta Wale has inspired me in many ways, so who wouldn’t want to be associated with him?” the ‘Heaven’ singer further stated.
