Yaw Siki Details Strict Gospel Media Lifestyle in His Household

Yaw Siki

Yaw Siki, the Ghanaian musician who transitioned into full-time ministry, has opened up about the dramatic shift in his lifestyle and the strict media boundaries he now lives by following his spiritual transformation.

In an interview on Hitz FM, he revealed that his home environment has completely shut out secular music, including his own earlier works.

“It’s not possible for us to play my old songs in my house. My home, we don’t play secular music at all,” he said.

He stressed that this decision is deliberate, shaped by lessons from his past experiences with media influence. For him, controlling what enters his home is central to how he raises his children and protects them from harmful exposure.

“I’m in control of my TV. I got corrupted through what I listened and the things I watched. Based on my experience, I’m raising my children based on that,” he stated.

Yaw Siki added that his tight schedule limits his personal engagement with radio, but noted that his household still interacts with media through his wife, who listens selectively.

Even then, he explained that their media choices are carefully restricted, with a strong preference for gospel-oriented content across all platforms.

“I no longer listen to the radio that much because of my busy schedule, but my wife listens to the radio a lot. When she tunes in, it’s only on gospel channels. When we turn on the TV too, it’s only gospel,” he shared.

While acknowledging that not all non-gospel content is harmful, he argued that it is difficult to constantly screen everything, which is why they opt for a simplified approach focused on gospel media.

“Some of the content on TV and radio are clean and cool, not necessarily gospel, but they’re okay. Some too may be so corrupt or deceiving, but we can’t scan every channel or programme, so the best way is to switch to platforms that are just gospel,” he added.
