Ghanaian songstress Wendy Shay says her journey in music has been held together by faith, discipline and relentless work.

During an interview on Okay FM, the 29-year-old singer revisited the defining moments that shaped her rise and the choices that kept her grounded.

She explained that her earliest steps in the industry were filled with uncertainty and pressure. The fast pace of the business, the competition and the unfamiliar demands often left her feeling stretched, yet she said her trust in God became the anchor that helped her navigate those early storms.

“I relied on God because when I entered the music industry, things were difficult but I had only God. The work and efforts I put in made me realise that I’m here to stay,” she said.

Wendy Shay stressed that the warm reception from Ghanaians strengthened her belief that she had chosen the right path and that she had what it took to last in the industry. She emphasised that maintaining consistency came from protecting her focus and refusing to be pulled away from her goals.

“My hard work was also appreciated so I can say it’s God’s grace. I stayed focused and set my eyes on the prize,” she averred.

As she reflected on her growth, the artiste added that personal maturity now guides how she responds to criticism and public commentary. According to her, choosing calm over conflict has become her guiding principle.

“I’ve come to know who I am so if you don’t talk about me, I won’t talk about you and even if you talk about me, I won’t mind you. I know where to channel my energy to so I’ve been very disciplined and principled,” the Ghanaian songstress stated.
