Fred Amugi

Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi says the stage remains the heartbeat of his career and a major source of joy in his life.

During an interview on MX24 on May 5, 2026, the celebrated actor opened up about why he continues to stay active in theatre, explaining that performing on stage gives him purpose and keeps him fulfilled.

“Till now, I’m still doing the stage, which is keeping me alive. Every day, I have some lines to learn, talk to people and be around people below and above my age. Mingling with all sorts of people alone is my happiness,” he said.

Amugi sees acting as going far beyond fame or routine work. He describes it as a lifelong commitment that continues to support him emotionally while also serving as his main source of income.

“Acting is my life and it’s the major thing that puts food on my table,” the veteran Ghanaian actor stated.
