Three people lost their lives while 20 others sustained injuries in a road crash on Monday morning near Konongo-Odumase along the Accra-Kumasi N6 highway.
The fatal accident reportedly involved a Mitsubishi Outlander and a Benz Sprinter minibus bearing registration number GE 6024-22. All three deceased victims were identified as men.
According to reports, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene after receiving a distress call at about 7:55 a.m.
Before the emergency team got there, eyewitnesses had already rescued 12 passengers from the wreckage. Fire officers later managed to free the remaining eight victims who were trapped inside the vehicles upon their arrival.
The impact of the collision left both vehicles extensively damaged. The bodies of the deceased were retrieved and handed over to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Police for further action, while investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
