Kwame Baffoe, well known as Abronye DC and the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been placed in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) after a ruling by the Accra Circuit Court.
He was remanded on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, when he appeared before the court over allegations tied to a video he allegedly circulated online. Prosecutors say the content included derogatory remarks about a Circuit Court judge, accusing the judge of routinely handling political cases and delivering rulings they described as flawed and filled with grammatical errors.
According to the prosecution, the video was part of an effort to provoke public anger against the judiciary. In court, it was stated that Kwame Baffoe declared: “You are not a judge but rather a politician who has who has covered your hair with a sack claiming you are a judge.”
The state further argued that he intensified his criticism of the judge on social media following an offensive comment made by a pastor about the Vice President, a matter currently before the court.
He now faces two charges, publication of false news and offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
His legal team’s request for bail was denied.
The court has directed that he return on May 27, 2026, when the case will continue, Graphic Online reported.
