“We Will Fight for Every Ball” – Carlos Queiroz Fires Up Black Stars Ahead of 2026 World Cup

New Black Stars of Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz

Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has pledged an all-out battle from his side when the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off, insisting his team will compete for every single moment on the pitch.

Queiroz is preparing to lead Ghana into its fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament, continuing a journey that began at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

At the moment, the Portuguese tactician is in the United Kingdom with a section of the national team as preparations intensify for their friendly against Wales on June 2. The match forms part of the final build-up to the World Cup, with Queiroz using the period to assess and refine his squad ahead of selection.

With squad discussions still ongoing and anticipation growing over final call-ups, the coach turned to social media to set the tone for what lies ahead in Mexico, Canada and the United States.

“To All Black Stars Football Fans,” his statement began.

“Today, with 24 days remaining before our first World Cup challenge, we begin what many may call a Mission (Im)possible.

“We know the price that must be paid — sacrifice, discipline, relentless effort, and total dedication — if we are to honour the dreams and expectations of the people of Ghana.

“If our Dream is to make the difference at the end, we have to start by being different at the beginning.

And when the mission is to serve the pride, prestige, and football soul of Ghana, pain becomes a privilege, sacrifice becomes duty, and commitment becomes our identity.

“We are ready to fight together for every ball, every moment, for our dream.

“One Team. 33 million hearts. One heartbeat.

“The journey starts now. Enjoy it!”
