Lilwin Calls Agya Koo a King and Legend in Kumawood Greatness Debate

Agya Koo and Lilwin

The long-running conversation over who sits at the pinnacle of Ghana’s acting greats has flared up again, especially within Kumawood circles where opinions rarely settle.

For years, film enthusiasts have gone back and forth over the same familiar names, with Agya Koo, Kwaku Manu, Akrobeto, Dr Likee, and Lilwin all regularly featuring in the debate over who truly defines greatness in the industry.

The discussion gained fresh momentum after a flyer surfaced on social media in honour of Agya Koo. The post went as far as describing the veteran Kumawood star as a “nightmare” for anyone in the Ghanaian movie industry, a bold claim that quickly drew attention online.

When the flyer made the rounds, Kwadwo Nkansah stepped into the conversation with a noticeably different tone. Rather than engaging in the usual comparisons, he chose to acknowledge Agya Koo’s legacy directly.

He stressed that Agya Koo remains one of the most influential figures the Ghanaian film space has ever produced, insisting that his place in history is secure regardless of shifting trends or newer generations of actors.

Lilwin also pointed to the lasting imprint of Agya Koo’s career during Kumawood’s peak years, noting that his work helped push the industry into mainstream popularity.

In his view, Agya Koo’s contribution goes beyond personal fame, describing him as a true legend whose influence helped turn Kumawood into a widely recognised entertainment brand both in Ghana and across several African countries.
