“I Feel Threatened” – Obinim Speaks on Wife Florence’s Changing Friend Circle

Bishop Daniel Obinim

Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the International God’s Way Church, has raised fresh concerns about the people currently surrounding his wife, Florence Obinim, saying her growing social circle makes him uneasy and puts him in a difficult emotional position.

Speaking to his congregation, the controversial preacher said he is uncomfortable with the type of friends his wife now keeps, suggesting that the change in her social life has created tension within his personal space.

According to him, Florence Obinim used to be more private and selective about friendships, preferring a quiet lifestyle with very few close associates. He contrasted that past behaviour with what he describes as a noticeable shift in her recent interactions and friendships.

He argued that the development has left him anxious, not only because of the influence he believes these new associations may have, but also because of how he might be perceived if anything goes wrong in her life.

“My wife, Florence Obinim’s current circle of friends is not the best. I’m scared now and currently feel threatened. My wife was an introvert who didn’t like having too many friends but now she has this team around her. Should the slightest thing happen to my wife, they will say I am the cause,” he said.

He went on to stress his discomfort with the situation, making it clear that he intends to distance himself from the matter entirely.

“I will stay back.”

His comments appeared to underline a growing personal strain, as he suggested that he feels caught between concern for his wife’s wellbeing and fear of potential blame from others should any incident occur.

The remarks were delivered in a reflective tone before his congregation, where he openly discussed the challenges he believes are emerging within his marriage.

This latest statement follows closely on the heels of earlier comments by Bishop Obinim in which he laid out specific instructions regarding his funeral arrangements.

In that earlier address to his church, he insisted that if he passes away, only his children and members of his congregation should take charge of organising his burial rites. He further stated that his wife should not be involved in planning his funeral in any capacity.

He explained that his stance was shaped by observations he made after the deaths of several well-known Ghanaian figures, including Daddy Lumba, which influenced how he now views funeral arrangements and family involvement.

During the same period, he also spoke more broadly about tensions he believes exist within his marriage to Florence Obinim, adding further context to his recent public remarks.

In a separate interview response, Florence Obinim addressed her husband’s statements with a calm tone, saying she was not taken aback by what he said. Rather, she expressed appreciation that he had openly shared his views while still alive, suggesting she preferred clarity over silence on such personal matters.
