Celestine Donkor to Husbands: Marriage Does Not Guarantee Intimacy Without Love and Care

Celestine Donkor

Gospel singer Celestine Donkor is encouraging husbands to invest more in the emotional side of their marriages, arguing that love, care, and consistent affection are what truly sustain intimacy between couples.

Speaking in a video shared on her Instagram page, the singer challenged the notion that getting married gives a husband unrestricted access to sex whenever he wants it. She maintained that emotional connection and the way a woman is treated are key factors in building a healthy and fulfilling marital relationship.

“Dear husband, the fact that you’ve married a woman into your matrimonial home doesn’t mean that whenever you want sex anyhow, anytime, you will automatically get it regardless of how you treat the woman. A woman needs a lot of love, care, and attention to get her tissue wet. Sweet-talk your own wife. Show her love. Show her care,” she said.

According to Celestine Donkor, meaningful communication should remain a priority even when couples are apart. She urged husbands not to let work or busy routines create emotional distance, saying regular calls and affectionate words can make wives feel valued.

“Don’t leave the house from morning till evening without calling your wife to check on her. Tell her you can’t wait to see her again. Put some words in her face,” she stated.

She went on to describe marriage as a lifelong commitment that demands patience, intentional effort, and unwavering care. Comparing a wife to a rose, the gospel singer said women deserve to be cherished and nurtured throughout the marriage.

“That is why, when you are going to marry, they say you are going to your wife’s family to pluck a rose and treat that woman with love, patience, and a lot of attention,” the gospel singer indicated.

Clarifying what women mean when they ask for attention, Celestine Donkor said it is not a call for husbands to neglect their jobs or remain at home. Rather, she explained, wives simply want to feel loved and emotionally connected regardless of the distance created by work or other responsibilities.

“When we say attention, we are not saying you should stay home and not work. We are saying that even when you are away from home, let your presence be felt by your wife,” she averred.

She concluded with a warning against complacency in marriage, saying husbands should never assume that a wife’s Christian values or commitment to the relationship eliminate the need for emotional investment. Neglect, she suggested, can have serious consequences even in marriages that appear strong.

“If you don’t, and you think that because you are married to a perfect Christian woman, she will never cheat on you, you are lying; she will cheat on you,” Celestine Donkor further stated.
