Shatta Wale has once again stirred conversations about his long-standing rivalry with fellow dancehall star Stonebwoy, insisting their history together is the reason the BHIM Nation leader cannot stand up to him.
The outspoken musician made the remarks during a teaser for his appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast while in Lagos, Nigeria, where he revisited the origins of their often-public feud.
Explaining how the relationship began, Shatta Wale claimed he played a significant role during Stonebwoy’s early days in music, describing what he said was a mentor-mentee bond between them.
“Stonebwoy is my boy. He used to come to the first room I rented. He used to call me daddy,” Shatta Wale claimed.
He alleged that the dynamic between them shifted after Stonebwoy started attracting recognition from sections of the media and the music industry, saying the growing praise created distance between them.
“But when he started going into the media and they told him, ‘Oh, you have talent, you are even better than Shatta Wale,’ things changed,” he said.
The interview also explored what might happen if the two musicians unexpectedly crossed paths during the recording. Shatta Wale responded by expressing confidence that Stonebwoy would not be able to confront him.
“He can’t watch me; he will fall down. My spirit is too big for him. I’m too confident. I am not fake. The things he says, he doesn’t follow. Me, the things I say, I follow them,” he said.
He added, “When we say we are coming to beat you, we are coming to beat you.”
The latest remarks add another chapter to one of Ghana’s most enduring rivalries in the music industry. Over the years, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have repeatedly exchanged public jabs, keeping their feud in the spotlight and fueling debate among fans whenever either artiste addresses the other.
