Ghanaian media personality Tima Kumkum has disclosed that she has been living separately from her second husband, Dominic Duodu, for more than a year, bringing fresh attention to the state of their marriage.
Tima opened up about the separation during an interview with Nikka Simonas on Joy Prime, where she spoke candidly about the emotional toll of the experience and how she has navigated the situation with her children.
According to her, Dominic left their home on April 1, 2025, marking the beginning of a separation she initially struggled to accept.
For Tima, one of the most painful aspects of the situation was having to respond to questions from her children about their father. She recalled a particularly emotional moment when her daughter asked when Daddy would be coming home.
At the time, Tima said she tried to reassure the child that her father would return soon.
But as the months passed without a reunion, maintaining that reassurance became increasingly difficult. She said that after about six months, she could no longer keep telling her daughter that her father would be back shortly.
The disclosure suggests that Tima and Dominic had been living apart for several months before public discussions about difficulties in their marriage became more prominent.
Their separation comes as a surprise to many because Tima’s marriage to Dominic had represented a fresh chapter in her personal life following the end of her first marriage.
Before meeting Dominic, Tima was married to a man identified as Kwadwo, whom she married at 24. She has previously explained that her decision to marry at the time was partly driven by a desire to get back at an ex-boyfriend who had cheated on her with her friend.
That marriage produced two children but eventually ended in divorce. Tima has said she was the one who filed for divorce around 2014.
She later found love with Dominic Duodu, a former schoolmate, and the two eventually formalised their relationship in 2023.
Their traditional marriage ceremony was held in Akyem Oda on July 13, 2023, followed by their white wedding in Accra two days later on July 15.
The couple welcomed their son, Jesse, in November 2024.
The revelation that they had separated only a few months after the birth of their child has therefore come as an unexpected development for followers who had watched the couple begin what appeared to be a new chapter together.
