Shatta Wale Reveals Why He Doesn’t Consider Stonebwoy His Rival

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy

Shatta Wale has offered a fresh perspective on his relationship with Stonebwoy, pointing to their close proximity as neighbours as he pushes back against the long-standing perception that the two dancehall giants are locked in a bitter rivalry.

Speaking during a recent TikTok Live session, the ‘On God’ hitmaker said the public has exaggerated the tension between them, arguing that their current circumstances do not support the idea that they are enemies.

“If Stonebwoy were my enemy, I wouldn’t live in the same area with him. Stonebwoy doesn’t live at Ashaiman anymore, and I don’t live in the ghetto anymore. We are just two minutes away from each other. I pass in front of his house every time I go out, every single blessed day,” he said.

For Shatta Wale, living just minutes away from Stonebwoy would hardly make sense if the two were genuinely hostile towards each other. He said people who have serious issues with one another would ordinarily avoid being so close.

“Don’t come and sit here and say me and Stonebwoy are rivals. Under normal circumstances, when you’re not on talking terms with someone, you don’t even want to walk past their door because you’re angry. If we were rivals, then we can’t live two minutes away from each other,” he stated.

The dancehall star also accused the media and public discourse of reinforcing a rivalry that, in his view, has been overstated. He said constant conversations about their alleged feud have caused fans to assume they understand the private relationship between the two musicians.

“The media has brainwashed you too much, so when you’re talking, it’s as if you know me and Stonebwoy’s life. It is God that has blessed the two of us,” he said.

Shatta Wale further looked back at the humble circumstances from which both musicians emerged. He recalled Stonebwoy’s past in Ashaiman and his own upbringing in Lartebiokorshie Zongo, stressing that their current status reflects the distance they have travelled in life.

“He used to live in Ashaiman; I lived at Lartebiokorshie Zongo. I have really suffered, so if today Stonebwoy and I live in the same area, just two minutes away from each other, and you people are saying he’s my rival, no, don’t say that,” he added.

Although Shatta Wale admitted that he enjoys teasing Stonebwoy from time to time, he urged fans to avoid turning their exchanges into personal attacks that could damage the relationship between their respective fan bases.

“I just like teasing, but nobody should go personal. Let’s do things that will make the music healthy,” Wale further stated.
