Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has disclosed that he has an eight-year-old son living in London, revealing that the child was born from an unplanned pregnancy.
The musician, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, shared the revelation during an interview on GHOne TV on Friday, August 28, where he spoke about his children and his approach to fatherhood.
Shatta Wale is already a father to three known children, Cherissa, Majesty and Leandra. However, during the interview, he revealed that he has another son named Jedidah, who lives in London.
The artiste initially appeared uncertain about the boy’s exact age, placing him between six and eight years old before settling on eight.
“I have a son in London. He’ll be like 7 or 8,” he said, adding, “like eight years ago. I didn’t plan this one.”
According to Shatta Wale, he had only recently met the child’s mother when she informed him that she was pregnant. He described the pregnancy as something he had not anticipated but said he continues to maintain contact with both the mother and his son.
“It was with a girl I just met one time, next thing I know she said she was pregnant. I didn’t plan for it. I’m a victim,” he said.
His comments suggest that the experience has also influenced how he approaches relationships and fatherhood today.
When asked if he would consider having more children, the dancehall artiste said he is now being more deliberate about his sexual relationships.
“No, I don’t. Now, I’m being careful with sex,” Shatta Wale stated.
