Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has bolstered his squad ahead of Ghana’s upcoming international assignments after medical concerns surrounding some players prompted changes to the team.
The Portuguese coach has called up nine additional players to strengthen the squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, as well as Ghana’s international friendly against Morocco.
The latest additions provide further options across defence, midfield and attack as the Black Stars prepare for the demanding run of fixtures.
VfL Wolfsburg defender Jonas Adjetey, OGC Nice’s Alidu Seidu, Ebenezer Annan of Rapid Bucharest and Osasuna defender Rockson Yeboah have all been brought into the squad to reinforce the backline.
Slovan Bratislava midfielder Rahim Ibrahim is the only new addition to the midfield.
Up front, Queiroz has turned to four more players, with Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante, Derby County’s Mohammed Fuseini, Benjamin Tetteh of Kalba and Igdir FK attacker Felix Afena-Gyan receiving call-ups.
The additions come as the Black Stars deal with fitness concerns affecting some members of the initial squad.
Ghana are set to face Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia in their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign before taking on Morocco in a friendly as Queiroz continues to assess his options ahead of the upcoming competitive fixtures.
The expanded squad gives the head coach greater depth as he prepares the team for the qualifiers and the friendly encounter.
