Veteran Ghanaian actor Kofi Adjorlolo has disclosed that his health condition forced him to miss out on LilWin’s upcoming movie, A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu), despite being approached to feature in the production.
Adjorlolo said he was unable to accept the invitation because he fell ill after returning from Nigeria, where he had been involved in another movie project.
During a discussion on on Max TV, the veteran actor explained that he had informed filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, and his team about his condition, making it clear that his absence was not a deliberate decision to distance himself from the production.
He also rejected claims that his non-participation was linked to tensions between the two actors. Adjorlolo maintained that he shares a cordial relationship with LilWin and has a history of working on the filmmaker’s productions without any problems.
“Yes, I was contacted, but I was not well. When I returned from Nigeria, I was unwell, and I made them aware of it. I have done a lot of LilWin’s productions. I have never refused to be part of LilWin’s productions before, and the people of Kumasi know that. Everything is okay between us. I don’t have any problem with them,” he explained.
Adjorlolo’s comments put to rest speculation about the circumstances surrounding his absence, with the actor making it clear that his health was the only reason he could not join the project.
The discussion also offered the veteran actor an opportunity to share his views on the challenges confronting Ghana’s movie industry. He identified the lack of adequate investment as a major concern and called for more financial support to help filmmakers improve their work.
According to him, attracting investors into the sector would be an important step towards strengthening local productions and creating better opportunities for those working in the industry.
“I would make sure there are lots of investments going into our productions. We need more investors in the industry,” he added.
Meanwhile, LilWin’s A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu) has attracted attention for its impressive lineup of Nigerian actors, bringing together several familiar faces from Nollywood for the international production.
The cast includes veteran performers Kanayo O. Kanayo and Patience Ozokwor, alongside Mike Ezuruonye, Charles Awurum, Zubby Michael and Destiny Etiko.
