Kumawood actor Oteele has revealed how a leaked intimate video involving him and another woman nearly cost him his marriage, prompting him to seek the intervention of elders to win back his wife, Gifty Nana Afriyie.
During a discussion with Nayaas, the actor disclosed that his wife left their matrimonial home after the video circulated online, having decided to end their marriage.
Oteele said he subsequently approached some elderly people to intervene and speak to his wife on his behalf in an attempt to save their relationship.
According to him, their intervention helped Gifty reconsider her decision after reflecting on the years they had spent together and the challenges they had overcome as a couple.
“When the incident happened, she left our matrimonial home because, for her, she had made up her mind to leave the marriage. So, I had to approach elderly people to speak to her on my behalf. They did, and she also realised that we had come a long way in this marriage. She accepted that it was a mistake and forgave me,” he explained.
The actor also revealed that he gave his wife a Toyota RAV4 after she agreed to forgive him. He explained that he owned two vehicles at the time, a Toyota Voxy and a 2014 Toyota RAV4, and decided to give her the latter.
“I had two cars, a Voxy and a 2014 Toyota RAV4, so I compensated her with the RAV4,” he revealed.
Oteele’s wife, Gifty Afriyie, has also recounted the emotional pain she endured after discovering the intimate video of her husband and another woman online.
She explained that the situation was particularly difficult to accept because of the hardships the couple had experienced together throughout their marriage.
Gifty recalled that they had endured periods of severe difficulty, including sleeping outside and depending on friends for accommodation. She said their shared struggles made the incident even more painful, considering the sacrifices they had made to build their life together.
Despite the disappointment, she said she eventually decided to forgive her husband and continue with their marriage.
However, Gifty suggested that her response might have been different if Oteele had continued living with her after the scandal without showing any remorse for his actions.
She indicated that his failure to express regret could have pushed her to an extreme reaction, saying she might have been driven to poison him to death if he had shown no remorse.
