Bishop Bonegas Links Obinim’s Divorce to Possible Family Covenant

Bishop Bonegas

Bishop Bonegas has attributed the collapse of his marriage to what he describes as a family covenant and believes a similar spiritual influence could be behind the separation of Bishop Daniel Obinim and his ex-wife, Florence Nana Akua Sarfowaa.

The Founder of Great Fire Pentecostal International Church made the observation during an interview with Nana Romeo, which was shared on Instagram on October 19, 2026.

According to Bishop Bonegas, the circumstances surrounding Obinim’s divorce appear unusual, raising the possibility that a covenant established by the couples’ great-grandparents could be affecting their marriages.

He explained that some family covenants allegedly linked to marital breakdowns only manifest after couples have children, potentially leaving them unaware of the problem until their relationships begin to deteriorate.

“If you look deep into the families of both parties, there is a possibility that a covenant was made in the family. Some of the spirits of covenants affecting marriages only work when the couple has given birth.

“One thing that affects pastors is that we spend most of our time taking care of our members but do not pay proper attention to our families. So, before they realise it, their marriages are in shambles. Some pastors do not even have time for their wives,” he said.

Bishop Bonegas also drew on his personal experience, recounting how his own marriage ended despite his efforts to provide for his wife and her family.

He said the separation left him reflecting on the circumstances surrounding the breakdown of his relationship, particularly because his children were still very young when their mother left.

According to him, a subsequent spiritual consultation led him to believe that his marriage had been affected by a covenant within his family. He claimed the covenant had a history of marriages breaking down while the children were still at a tender age.

“I used to work hard to ensure my wife and her family were taken care of, but in the end, what happened to my uncle happened to me. When my wife left me, my children were very young. One was even a year old.

“…I went for a spiritual consultation, and the spirit that came was one of my great-grandmothers, who made me aware that what was happening was a covenant that they had made. I was told to break the covenant, and I have done that, but I am yet to get married again and see if it worked or not,” he further stated.
