After seven years of public tension, Afrobeats stars Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade have finally reconciled, sharing an emotional apology and embrace on stage in Lagos.
The dispute dates back to 2017 when Yemi Alade posted on social media criticizing female artists who edited their body shape to “deceive fans.” Many interpreted the comment as a reference to Tiwa Savage, who had recently posted photos highlighting her curves. Tiwa quickly responded, warning Yemi Alade not to “start a war you can’t finish,” sparking a long-running public disagreement.
Their reconciliation unfolded on Thursday during the “Price of Being Her” panel at Entertainment Week Africa. On stage, Yemi Alade addressed Tiwa Savage directly, praising her for standing strong in her career and inspiring women.
“I want you to know that when you stand strong and do what you believe in, you inspire many women. Keep being yourself. You are walking in strength,” she said, moving Tiwa Savage to tears.
After the panel, the two artists were seen singing and hugging in a joyful video, signaling that the rift that lasted nearly a decade has finally ended.
