Medikal Hails Criss Waddle as ‘godfather’ Behind His Music Breakthrough

Criss Waddle and Medikal

Medikal has reflected on the early turning point of his music career, giving strong credit to Criss Waddle for helping him break into Ghana’s mainstream music scene.

In an interview with Feeling Daddy on Starr Showbiz, the Ghanaian rapper, born Samuel Adu Frimpong, described the AMG Business leader as the key figure who opened doors for him when he was still building his name in the industry. According to him, Waddle’s influence went beyond mentorship, extending into direct support that helped push his visibility.

“He’s a godfather. Yes. He put me on in the industry, in the scene. He put me on. He did verses for me. He made sure people pay attention to Medikal,” he said.

Medikal also pointed to the financial rewards that followed as evidence of how pivotal that early backing was. “Of course, because I’m making a lot of money for music. So, if you put me on.”

Beyond personal gratitude, he used the moment to underline a broader reality in the music business, stressing that talent alone rarely guarantees success without the right access and exposure.

“Sometimes, it’s not who you know, it’s who knows you. So, I was privileged enough to meet a great person like Chris Waddell and then he put me in the music scene.”
