Veteran Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame has opened up about the emotional reaction he had the first time he listened to Black Sherif’s track “So It Goes.”

During a recent interview on Orange FM, the award-winning rapper recounted how the moment happened while he was in the studio recording his anti-galamsey song, Stop Galamsey. According to him, his producer played Black Sherif’s newly released Iron Boy album shortly after it dropped, and one particular song immediately hit him on a deep emotional level.

Okyeame Kwame said “So It Goes” left him in tears before his recording session even began.

“First time I heard the song, I cried, yes. I was in the studio recording my song, Stop Galamsey, before we started. Abochi played the song, and the song touched me. I think he had released it two days earlier or something,” he said.

The rapper explained that the emotion carried in the song, paired with Black Sherif’s style of delivery and lyrical depth, resonated strongly with him.

He added that his admiration for the young artiste goes beyond just the song itself, pointing to Black Sherif’s songwriting, voice, and personality as qualities that continue to stand out in Ghana’s music industry.

“‘If you see the light remember I was with you,’ Black Sherif’s stuff touches me in a different way. His songwriting style and his voice are interesting,” he said.

Okyeame Kwame went on to describe Black Sherif as the artiste who excites him the most in the current Ghanaian music scene.

“Artistes who excite me the most now are Black Sherif. I like his stuff,” he further stated.
