KiDi Backs Kuami Eugene, Says Talent Has Not Faded After Lynx Exit

KiDi and Kuami Eugene

KiDi has moved to shut down growing talk suggesting Kuami Eugene’s career has dipped since leaving Lynx Entertainment, insisting the singer’s abilities are still very much intact.

In an interview with ZionFelix, the singer was drawn into discussions around claims that Kuami Eugene has struggled to maintain his earlier momentum after exiting the label.

KiDi pushed back strongly against the narrative, saying the issue is being misunderstood. He stated, “It’s less about Kuami Eugene and more about what the world is right now. Because Kuami Eugene’s talent hasn’t gone anywhere. I’ve said this on many platforms, in the last decade of Ghanaian music, if we’re naming top 10 most talented artistes in Ghana, Kuami Eugene is in there. No bad blood, no animosity, no kind of any mentality will take that away from him.”

He further argued that the conversation should focus less on the artiste and more on the evolution of the industry itself.

“It’s not about Kuami Eugene, but more about how the system has changed. Me and Kuami Eugene came up in a system, it’s a pretty different system right now. You have to be different,” he explained.

Kuami Eugene has in recent times been under increased public scrutiny following his departure from Lynx Entertainment, with some critics linking him to the so-called ‘Lynx Curse,’ a label used to describe former signees whose post-label output is perceived to fall short of their earlier success.

Both artistes rose to prominence under Lynx Entertainment, where KiDi and Kuami Eugene became standout figures, delivering consecutive hits and securing major awards that cemented their status as one of Ghana’s most successful label pairings in recent years.
