Carlos Queiroz Names 28-Man Black Stars Squad for Wales Friendly and World Cup Build-Up

Black Stars of Ghana

Carlos Queiroz has released a 28-man squad for Ghana’s World Cup build-up camp, also confirming selection for the international friendly against Wales in Cardiff as preparations intensify for the 2026 tournament.

The group, which is split into five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and seven forwards, reported to camp on Monday, May 25, 2026, and immediately began training sessions at Dragon Park in Cardiff ahead of the clash scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

The list brings back several familiar names, most notably Greece-based defender Baba Abdul Rahman, who earns a recall for the first time since September 2023. The former Chelsea full-back has enjoyed a strong season with PAOK, registering 35 appearances, three goals and three assists across all competitions.

There is also a return for Ernest Nuamah of Olympique Lyon, who is back in the frame after a lengthy spell on the sidelines following an anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him out for over a year.

Further additions include Abdul Mumin of Rayo Vallecano, returning after recovering from a serious ACL setback, alongside Augustine Boakye of AS Saint-Étienne and Alidu Seidu of Stade Rennais.

Youngster Paul Reverson of AFC Ajax has also been drafted in, with the 20-year-old included for further evaluation after standing out at youth level in the Netherlands.

The full squad is expected to remain in Cardiff for the duration of the camp as Ghana sharpens its focus on both the friendly against Wales and the broader challenge of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

At the tournament, Ghana national football team will open their Group L campaign against Panama in Toronto, before fixtures against England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.
