Papa Kumasi has revealed that Dr. Likee sold his personal car to finance his comedy show in the United Kingdom, describing the move as a major sacrifice behind the successful London event.
Speaking during an interview, Papa Kumasi dismissed claims that the programme was heavily funded by outside sponsors, insisting that Dr. Likee personally carried the financial burden to make the show happen.
“Dr. Likee had to sell his own car just to sponsor the show. No one can sit anywhere and say it’s not true; the person should come out and prove that,” he said.
He explained that although preparing for the event came with financial pressure, the overwhelming support from fans made the effort worthwhile.
According to Papa Kumasi, the audience turnout reflected the comedian’s growing international appeal, with some supporters travelling from outside the UK specifically for the show.
He said several attendees journeyed from the United States just to watch Dr. Likee perform live and support the team.
Papa Kumasi also acknowledged a number of public figures who encouraged them ahead of the event and offered guidance during preparations.
Those he mentioned included Deputy Tourism Minister Abeiku Santana, Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, and Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie.
He said their support and advice gave the team confidence at a critical moment instead of leaving them to struggle alone.
Papa Kumasi maintained that the success of the UK event was built on sacrifice, determination, and the loyalty of fans who continued to stand firmly behind Dr. Likee and his brand.
