Two Arrested After Armed Robbery Attack at Kwafokrom Filling Station

Two suspects arrested over Kwafokrom armed robbery near Nsawam; police recover weapons and pursue a third suspect after attack.

Two men are in custody after a robbery attack at Kwafokrom, a community near Nsawam in Ghana’s Eastern Region, following a rapid response by the Eastern South Regional Police Command.

The suspects have been named as Amos Boame and Collins Adjei. Police say they were picked up in connection with an armed robbery that took place on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Investigators are also tracking a third suspect, identified only as Ashivie, who is currently on the run and believed to have played a role in the operation.

The arrests led to the recovery of several items police say were linked to the incident. These include an Alder Tupal pump-action gun with serial number 245A-12944, an electronic shocker, a cutlass and a bulletproof vest.

According to the police account, the suspects opened fire during the robbery, hitting a security officer and a pump attendant who had sought safety inside an office at the filling station.

The attackers also reportedly escaped with GH¢13,460 in cash alongside assorted goods, the total value of which is still being assessed.

A follow-up examination of the scene turned up nineteen spent cartridges and one live round of ammunition, further evidence of the exchange of gunfire.

The injured victims are receiving medical care and are reported to be in stable condition.

The Ghana Police Service has stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect and any additional accomplices linked to the case.

Authorities have meanwhile appealed to residents to stay calm as security is reinforced in the area, with police working alongside filling station managers to prevent similar attacks.
