Fresh off his Best Actor triumph at the Ghana Movie Awards, Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, well known as Lilwin, is using the moment to answer critics who have questioned his standing in the film industry.
Speaking in an interview that has since circulated on social media, the actor declared that the award serves as proof that his career remains firmly intact despite suggestions that his influence has waned.
LilWin insisted that he continues to be a dominant force in Ghana’s entertainment landscape and dismissed claims that his relevance is fading.
“Have you heard that I won Best Actor? So who is the best in Ghana? Some people have been pushing the narrative that LilWin is no longer relevant in the industry, but I am like Job, Joseph, Moses, and others who never faded. My name will never fade in Ghana because I have a Biblical name,” he said.
The actor did not stop there. He also aimed criticism at some of his colleagues, arguing that there is a clear difference between filmmaking and producing content for YouTube.
Questioning the basis on which some performers measure success, LilWin suggested that online popularity should not be confused with achievements recognised by the movie industry.
“I won the award because the rest of them are not good, and they won’t even tell the truth. They think people use YouTube to win Best Actor,” the Ghanaian actor stated.
