145 TEWU Members At University of Energy And Natural Resources Embark On Strike

One Hundred and Forty-Five(145) members of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) at the University of Energy and Natural Resources have begun a strike.

The strike forms part of the nationwide action by TEWU members in all public universities.

The strike is to press home their condition of service which has not been improved for some time now.

The Vice President of TEWU UENR branch, Mr. Maxwell Ofori in a interview with First News noted that their strike action is not motivated by politics as people are alleging but they are fighting for what is due them.

“There is no political motivation behind this strike action, we have not been treated well and we are therefore demanding what is ours.”

The Registrar of the University, Solomon Panford tells First News how they are managing with the situation.

He indicated that they are making good use of some of the casual staff and hoping that their demands may be met so that they can return to work.
