Health Services Workers’ Union In Bono, Bono East And Ahafo Regions Declare Strike

Members of the Health Services Workers’ Union of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions have declared strike starting tomorrow October 6,2021.

The Association indicated that they would only resume work when the government meets their demands.

Addressing a press conference in Sunyani, the Association noted that all negotiations with the government on their allowances among others have not yielded results.

Theophilous Kofi Tsikata the Chairman of Health Services Workers’ Union for the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions addressing the media said, “Government has deliberately decided to cause segregation and disharmony within the health fraternity. This assertion stems from the fact that the Collective Agreement between the Health Services Workers’ Union and Government has since 2015 not seen any proper implementation. From tomorrow October 26, no member of the Association is to go to work.”

Mr Tsikata also called for an end to what is happening, “This unfair treatment must stop because members are outraged and fed up. The dragging of feet and lackadaisical nature to which the Government handles the issues of HSWU cannot be tolerated anymore.”

He noted that members who flout the directive would be dealt with.
