Emmanuel Gyan Emerges Reporter Of The Year

Emmanuel Gyan, a journalist with the Sunyani based Sky FM on Saturday won the Reporter of the Year at the Bono and Ahafo Media Awards.

His fair, accurate and balanced coverage of events and happening in the region has attracted a lot of applause from his listeners and colleague journalists as most of his stories focused on current affairs and championing of education, health and environment related stories happening in the Bono, the Bono East and the Ahafo regions in Ghana.

He emerged as a winner after been paired in a highly competitive category with 9 other journalists within the region for their accurate and comprehensive reportage in the year under review.

The maiden event which happened on November 27, 2021 was organized by 3D Events under the theme, “Promoting National Development: The Role of The Media”.

According to the organisers, the awards scheme is meant to celebrate the efforts made by journalists and other media personalities in the three regions.

Mr. Gyan in his remarks, expressed his appreciation to his parents and sister for their daily support and guidance. He also, thanked the management and staff of Sky FM and those who have contributed in diverse ways to enhance his chosen path of endeavour.

“I see journalism as a tool that give voice to the voiceless, help to the helpless and amplify the concerns of the ordinary citizen as in the long run, it will yield a positive result,” Gyan stated.

He also added that, “This award is telling me to do more of my output in order to make positive impacts in the lives of citizenry. I admonished my colleagues to continue to serve as hope that our country can rely on.”

Journalists and other media personalities from the aforementioned regions received awards in other categories including Michael Sarpong Mfum who worked with Citi TV/FM as a Regional Correspondent of the Year.

In attendance was Mr. Larry Paa Qwesi Moses, the Regional President of the Bono, Bono East and the Ahafo Ghana Journalist Association (GJA), Mr. Daniel Agyei Fofie, Regional MUSIGA Chairman and Miss Fati Bamba, the Regional Director of the National Youth Authority.

Audiences were thrilled by the exceptional performances by the local based artists like Cafi Doma, Kwaku Black and Mystical Ohene.
