Allegations Against NDC Chairman Unsubstantiated

Allegations preferred against the Ashanti regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Kwesi Andrew by Mr. Enoch Amoako-Nsiah, a former Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator has turned out to be unfounded.

Mr. Amoako-Nsiah had alleged that some NDC Regional Executives compromised their positions to the detriment of their own party’s interest  and suspected that the said Regional Executives might have sold out the fortunes of the party to their political opponents during the 2020 elections.

As a result, the Ashanti Council of Elders of the party instituted a 7-member Fact Finding Committee headed by Dr. Samuel Sarpong, a former Ashanti Regional Minister, to investigate the allegations against the regional executives.

At the end of the committee’s work, a number of recommendations were made even though the allegations were not substantiated.

The accuser failed to produce any tangible evidence before the Committee yet it made recommendations which have turned out to be void and null, ineffective and not binding.

Among others, the Committee recommended that the Regional Secretary Kwame Zu should be barred from all party activities while accusing the regional chairman Nana Kwesi of incompetence.

However, the report had been shelved until it was leaked in the media exposing the ill intent of the Committee, which has not made the report public let alone serve the regional executives with copies of the report.

But the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Augustus Nana Kwesi Andrews has rubbished the report describing it as useless and must be looked down with the contempt it deserves.

He said it is part of an agenda to replace him under a so-called “Ashanti Project – Ashanti for Asantes” intended to champion a bid to ensure that all persons who aspire for positions at the regional level in the impending regional
elections are Asante indigenes which comes to confirm the hate campaign against him (a fante) and his secretary (an Ewe) for which the committee issued a report seeking to indict him.

Members of the 7- member Committee were Dr. Samuel Sarpong (chairman), Mr. Johnny Osei Kofi (Secretary) with Mr. Kwabena Bempong Marfo, Prof. Ohene Adjei, Ms. Juliet Abena Takyiwa, Mr. Kaakyire Oppong Kyekyeku and Mr. Kwadwo Adu Gyamfi as members.

Meanwhile, Enoch Amoako-Nsiah, who made the wild and unsubstantiated allegations against Nana Kwesi and Kwame Zu, is seeking to vie for the Regional chairmanship slot of the party so as Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, a former Regional chairman of the party.
