Former Tafo Pankrono MP Akoto Osei Is Dead
Former Member of Parliament for the Tafo Pankrono Constituency in the Ashanti Region,Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei is reported dead.
Information available to First News has it that the former Tafo Pankrono Legislator has been unwell for some time now. He died at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra.
Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei was in the cabinet of President John Agyekum Kufuor as Minister of State for Finance and Economic Planning.
He also worked as Deputy Minister for Finance and Economic Planning in May 2003 and was a major economic adviser to the government.
On 27 March 2002, he became a member of the Management Board of Merchant Bank (Ghana) Ltd. Previously, he worked as Associate Professor at Dollard University (USA) and previously as a Research Assistant at the Center for Policy Analysis (Ghana).
In May, 2017, President Nana Akufo-Addo named Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei as Minister of Monitoring and Evaluation.
He obtained a PhD from Howard University in 1987, a Master of Arts degree in Applied Economics from the American University in 1980. He had earlier obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Economics from Oberlin College in Ohio in 1978.
