NDC Officially Outdoors Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang As Running Mate

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially outdoored its presidential running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for the 2024 December general elections.

The event took place at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) on Wednesday, April 24.

Several key dignitaries including Members of Parliament of the NDC, the National Chairman, the General Secretary, the Council of Elders, and stalwarts of the party, among others, converged at UPSA to introduce Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Delivering a speech at the event, the General Secretary of the party, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said that outdooring Prof Opoku-Agyemang is a significant step forward for her to support the party’s flagbearer in bringing relief and hope to Ghanaians.

He emphasised that in the last eight years, the vice presidential office, which Prof Opoku-Agyemang is poised to assume, has reached its lowest level.

Mr Kwetey argued that the office has become an epitome of deception, lack of credibility, lack of trustworthiness, corruption, and governance that is perceived as a joke, filled with false promises and lies.

“In you Naana Jane, we see an individual who is not just about integrity, but an individual who will help to restore the office to the place it used to be. …. The place where John Dramani Mahama took that office when he became the Vice President of this country,” he said.

He reiterated that the vice presidential office has become a disgrace and emphasised that with Prof Opoku-Aguyemang’s arrival, the office will be restored to its place of honour.

Also speaking at the introduction event, the former President and flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama said that Ghana urgently needs leadership that inspires trust and belief in a better future.
